As a Commercial Sales Manager, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the Advanced Materials Team to achieve financial targets and drive business growth. You will develop and implement commercial strategies, manage customer relationships, and contribute to the overall success of the
company’s sales efforts.
You will report to the Business Unit Manager and work closely with Account
Managers, Product Managers, the Customer Support Team, and Technical Managers.
Advanced Material Network.
You will be predominantly working from the Sutton office with regular travel to customers, suppliers and to attend team and Industry events, as required. This role offers the chance to enhance your commercial and leadership skills within a dynamic multinational company environment, collaborating closely with the commercial, marketing, technical and product development teams to drive revenue growth and achieve business objectives.
Your responsibilities;
Develop and execute commercial strategies to achieve financial targets and expand our market presence including business development
Lead, coach, and motivate the commercial team to drive productivity and performance
Monitor and analyse the performance of business initiatives to ensure alignment with the
company’s strategic objectives, making recommendations and implementing initiatives to
ensure these are achieved
Conduct regular reviews with the commercial team to ensure opportunities are followed up and
supported in converting to sales
Establish and maintain strong relationships with key customers, suppliers and other key
stakeholders
Identify new business opportunities and markets for growth
Drive project and new business pipeline development
Collaborate with marketing and product teams to align sales efforts with overall business
objectives
Work with the central Marketing function on digital marketing campaigns and the
maintenance and development of the company’s website and B2B portal.
Conduct market research to identify trends, competitive analysis, and customer needs
Monitor and analyse sales data and report on sales performance and market trends
Assist implementing sales training programs for the team
Prepare and present sales forecasts, reports, and budgets to senior management
Participate in industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities
Ensure the team adheres to company policies and sales best practices
Handle escalated customer issues and complaints as needed
Stay up to date with industry developments and changes in regulations.
Ideal Candidate;
Academically qualified, ideally with a degree in a technical discipline (chemistry preferred), a
business degree, or a proven track record gained within the chemical or allied industry sector
Strong commercial background, ideally gained through experience while working in a
technically oriented industry (chemical industry preferred)
A deep understanding of the Advanced Material markets, including industry trends, products
and consumer preferences would be highly desirable
Prior experience of managing local or global sales teams, with a proven track record of
successfully developing effective strategies to drive significant growth, building cohesive
relationships, and producing strong business results
Driven by the need to achieve sales growth and has an innovative, persistent, solutions focussed approach when faced with difficulties and challenges
Self-motivated, disciplined, proactive and flexible
Has strong commercial acumen – has a high regard for accuracy and is confident navigating and presenting commercial data with the commercial team
Strong analytical and numeracy skills, with the ability to utilise data to inform actionable strategies to deliver key metrics
Adaptable and flexible, ready to shift strategies and approaches in response to evolving markets and technologies
A dynamic self-starter with excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills that
enable effective interactions with commercial and technical contacts from a range of external
and internal stakeholders
Working knowledge of MS Office and internet-based software applications (CRM Sales Force etc.)
Line management experience.

Office based (Sutton, Surrey), with regular national and occasional European travel
Standard working hours, 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday. Opportunity for hybrid
working (4 days in the office) after initial training period – speak to the HR Team for
